Cliff Spohn - Obituary

October 12, 1946 - October 28, 2025

Cliff Spohn passed away on October 28, 2025 at the age of 79. He was the husband of the late Sachi (Endo) Spohn, the love of his life. Cliff is survived by his two daughters Shaina Antunes and her husband Miguel, Tarah Spohn and her husband David Cirella, and four grandchildren Evan, Kaylie, Ari, and Ursa, and sister Cathy Sneed.

His journey on this earth was one marked by kindness, creating art, and having a sense of humor that lightened the hearts of his loved ones through the most difficult times. In the end his charm and wit still was a notable quality and will be missed.

Cliff was an illustrator and most known for his Atari video game box illustrations and sports illustrations. Throughout his career he illustrated posters, book covers, magazine covers, collectible prints, editorial art and privately commissioned paintings. On the side of his illustration work he created an expansive and prolific collection of abstract art. He enjoyed creating art with a “what if” approach that encouraged him to explore different mediums and techniques. Art was his true passion in life.

Cliff was born in Vanport, Oregon on October 12, 1946. He spent his early life in Tigard Oregon before moving to the Bay Area of California to attend San Jose State University. There he met his wife Sachi and they had two daughters Shaina and Tarah. Cliff and family lived in Fremont, California before moving to Shelton, Connecticut in the mid 1980s where he spent the majority of his adult life before moving to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
